Resources, events open to students over fall break
Those staying in Chapel Hill can swim, see a play, volunteer to help others and more.
For Carolina students who find themselves in the Chapel Hill area for some part or all of fall break, there is still plenty to do. Take a look at the suggestions below from Student Affairs.
Campus Recreation
Join Campus Recreation for free fall break yoga on Hooker Fields.
Ram’s Head Recreation Center and Bowman Gray Memorial Pool will remain open.
Carolina Center for Public Service
Volunteer with the Carolina Center for Public Service for Hurricane Helene relief efforts.
Carolina Dining Services
Check Carolina Dining Services hours, including dining halls and restaurants on campus.
Carolina Union
The Carolina Union will remain open Oct. 16-18 from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. It will be closed on Oct. 19 and open on Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m.
Carolina Veterans Resource Center
The Carolina Veterans Resource Center will remain open to veterans and military-connected students.
Cyber Bowl
This October, UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State University and Duke University will compete in a month-long test of cyber skills to earn bragging rights and win prizes.
First Responder Fun Run & Food Drive
UNC Police and the Durham Rescue Mission are hosting their First Responder Fun Run & Food Drive. This community event aims to support individuals experiencing homelessness and those facing food insecurity.
Heels Care Network
Check out a variety of events on the Heels Care Network website.
Heel Life
There are a number of events listed on Heel Life for students, including theater at PlayMakers Repertory Company ($10 student tickets) and other fun activities.
North Carolina Botanical Garden
Join the North Carolina Botanical Garden and explore the wonders of nature through fun, hands-on activity stations set up throughout the garden, including carnivorous plants, live animal encounters, native bees, painting with acorn ink, birdwatching, leaf art and fairy house building.
UNC Libraries
Check hours for the Undergraduate Library, Health Sciences Library, Wilson Library and Davis Library. Online resources are available 24/7.
